A quick, comforting dumpling soup recipe made with savory broth, tender dumplings, and pantry ingredients—ready in just 15 minutes. Perfect for busy nights or cozy weekends.
Ingredients
4 cups chicken or vegetable broth (low sodium preferred)
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 inch piece fresh ginger, grated
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp chili paste (optional)
1 tsp sugar
1 cup sliced mushrooms or bok choy
12 frozen or fresh dumplings
2 scallions, thinly sliced
1 tbsp fresh cilantro (optional)
1 tsp sesame oil for drizzling
Instructions
1. Heat sesame oil in a medium pot over medium heat until fragrant.
2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook for 30 seconds.
3. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and chili paste if using.
4. Pour in broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
5. Add mushrooms or bok choy; cook for 3–4 minutes.
6. Gently drop in dumplings one at a time.
7. Simmer 5–7 minutes or until dumplings float and look translucent.
8. Taste and adjust seasoning with soy sauce or lime juice.
9. Ladle soup into bowls and top with scallions, cilantro, and sesame oil drizzle.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, use vegetable dumplings and broth.
To freeze: store dumplings separately and reheat directly in hot broth.
Avoid overboiling to keep dumplings tender.
